    PROCEDURES FOR WITHDRAWAL OR ABSENCES

NO refund will be allowed for absences, except by special consideration in writing, to the director. The expenses for the program continue whether a child is present or absent; therefore, the tuition base must remain constant. A 30 day notice is requested when it is necessary to drop from the class. All tuition fees must be paid at that time.

    SCHOOL CANCELLATION

Preschool follows the Chenango Forks school calendar. If the Chenango Forks schools are closed due to weather conditions, we are also closed. If the Chenango Forks school district has a 2 hour delay, our morning classes are cancelled but we will have afternoon classes. If the Chenango Forks schools close early, so do we. Please be sure to listen to the school district's closing announcements on the radio.

The church space is given to Preschool to be used for community service at NO extra charge to the school. When the Church needs to use the school space for a funeral or other function, the Preschool must give up school time and space to the Church. We will notify you of such cancellations. We ask for your understanding and consideration.

    FIELD TRIPS

Newsletters will inform parents of field trips. Parents are asked to volunteer to help provide transportation and increased supervision when we leave our building for trips. All children must wear seat belts or be secured in a car seat. Younger siblings may be included on the field trip.

    ACCIDENTS

All precautions are taken to avoid accidents. However, if your child is hurt at school, the child will be assessed by the staff and an accident report will be sent home. If the accident is of a serious nature, emergency help will be called and the parents will be notified immediately. (If you cannot be reached, persons from your information card will be contacted.)

    SNACKS

You will be asked to provide food items for the pre-planned snacks periodically throughout the year. Please provide what is listed on the SNACK NOTE as closely as possible. Please, DO NOT send candy/gum with your child to school. If your child has a special dietary restriction, please let us know and we will work out alternatives with you. Experiencing new foods is a planned part of our curriculum.

    BIRTHDAYS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

We want to celebrate these special days, but are trying to maintain our planned snack menu of nutritious foods. Special birthday snacks may be brought in by prior arrangement with your child's classroom teacher. Special napkins and cups are welcome. Children may choose a gift f rom a "Birthday Box". Summer birthdays are celebrated in June.

    TOYS FROM HOME

Except for toys that are needed in the very beginning to help ease a child's transition from home to school, we ask that you leave your child's toys in the car or at home. It is very difficult for children to share their personal property and for the staff to keep track of items brought from home.

    NEWSLETTERS

A monthly newsletter is preparred for each class group with important announcements, daily activities, and snacks. We do this to keep you informed of the activities in our school. A class list will be provided with names, addresses, parents names, and phone numbers. Its use is for class members only. Please treat it carefully.

    HEALTH

When to keep your child home:

  • If the child has had a fever in the last 24 hours.
  • If the child is taking medication that must be administered during school hours.
  • If the child has symptoms of a communicable disease, such as rash, sores on hands or face, headache, nausea, head lice, pink eyes, etc. PLEASE NOTIFY THE SCHOOL IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED TO HAVE AN ILLNESS THAT IS CONTAGIOUS. We will notify other parents, but will keep the source confidential.
  • If the child has colored or thick mucus running from their nose.
  • If the child isn't acting well.

It is school policy that NO medication of any type will be administered by the school personnel.

    RELIGIOUS EMPHASIS

Many ask this question because we are housed in a Church. The school's philosophy emphasizes the development of the whole child- physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Thanks is said before snack. Christmas is celebrated as the birth of Christ. If this is of concern, please call the teacher or director.

    DISCIPLINE AT SCHOOL

The goal of discipline is to increase self control, not punishment. This begins with an environment and daily schedule that balances freedom and structure. Rules are few, but clear and consistent. No child will be allowed to harm another physically or emotionally, without taking responsibility for that action.

We strive, through positive reinforcement, to maintain an atmosphere that will guide and limit behavior. If a child is unable to control their behavior, that child will be temporarily separated from the group, asked to talk out the problem or just held in a lap. Love and acceptance can be experienced by all children.
